Every year, summer blind sides me with it. Then next thing I know it’s time for fall activities again.
Busy is not ideal. It keeps you in fight or flight mode, which leads to stress, anxiety, depression, adrenal fatigue, and all kinds of subsequent health problems.
The first step is awareness, so you can create boundaries around your time. I, for instance, will go back to not scheduling meetings during family time. Our family time tends to be early in the day since we homeschool, so it’s easy to break this boundary. I have to be strong, but flexible, and forgiving of myself.
Do you feel like you’re “to do” list is getting longer, even though you’re busy all the time?
We’re all guilty from time to time, but if we become aware that we’re doing it, then we can stop it.
When you are constantly saying or feeling like “I should be doing …” you create stress and overwhelm in your body, which over time will lead to anxiety or depression.
A great way to stop shoulding all over yourself is to have a plan. Create time strategies by prioritizing your values, so you feel like you should be doing exactly what you’re doing.
I can tell you that it’s a lifesaver, and something that someone gifted me when I was in tears from overwhelm. So, I decided to pay it forward. You can get the tools free at www.imperfectlyamazing.comalong with a free meditation to get you centered before you get started.
Loving your life mate is fulfilling and frustrating! Opening yourself up to be vulnerable is uncomfortable, even scary. That vulnerability can bring you closer to someone than you ever thought possible, but it can also do the opposite if ego jumps in. Watch the video to find out how to get out of gridlock and grow as a pair!
Next time conflict arises, what will you contribute?
It’s easy to find inspiration when it’s all around you. This is a great tool for your kids as well, and something they naturally gravitate towards. Think of your bedroom walls in middle school 🙂
Now we ground our visions in reality by giving ourselves measurable and timelines. Find out more about making your goals SMART, and how to keep them at the top of your mind by using the your calendar. If it’s not in your calendar, it doesn’t happen.
Sometimes life takes over, and you find yourself on auto-pilot. You’re not really enjoying anything, you’re just trying to manage the busy. When you find yourself in that situation, take a step back and remember the formula: gratitude + time for you = imperfectly amazing
In this video, I discuss my recent example of using gratitude to save the day, and why it’s such an important practice that can powerfully change your mindset, and bring joy to your life.
Like draws like – When you focus your attention on the things you don’t like, you draw more of it. When you shift your energy to what is good, even when the sky is falling all around you, you will bring more of the good.
Practice makes perfect – The more you do this, the more instinctual it becomes, which means you draw more and more of the good stuff.
Don’t beat yourself up – When you catch yourself having a Debbie Downer moment. Don’t berate yourself, just change the thoughts. Tell yourself, that’s how the old me would think about this situation, but the new me is grateful for …
Grow huge gratitude muscles – At the beginning of your day, or at the end, or both, take a few minutes to find 1 – 3 things to be grateful for. Find things that apply to your recent day, so that you are constantly practicing how to find the diamond in the rough rather than choosing the same things repeatedly (like your kids or wine), because energy won’t fall for that.
Most of us don’t get as much as we should because we’re so busy. Yet a lack of it causes us to accomplish less, and we end up needing even more time to get things done. I’m talking about sleep, ladies!
Sleep is one of those things where quantity and quality are important. Getting enough sleep is just as important the quality of the sleep you are getting by taking advantage of the fire hours. Watch the video to find out more, and why I’m actually pretty good about getting enough sleep – it’s not because I’m a highly disciplined person, lol.
Here are my hints to get your best sleep
Make your bedroom a cozy sanctuary that tempts you to it every night
Get ready for bed, and get yourself in it by 10pm. If your current bedtime is much later, move up your time by 15 -20 minute increments over time.
Avoid screens before bed – phone, computer, even TV
What will you do this week to get better sleep? Share in the comments!
